This ZIPPEL special purpose machine was designed on the basis of a double-chamber machine for the brushing respectively deburring of camshafts. On request of the automotive industry a cleaning machine should be developed removing swarf cuttings on the camshafts that were generated during the grinding process. By this procedure damages of the bearings caused by a flaking during the engine operation are avoided.
Loading and unloading are effected automatically supported by a gantry crane. The camshafts are received by center points on the face side so that they can be turned during the brushing - and cleaning process. An exact positioning of the camshaft toward the brush enables the brushes to scan the silhouettes of the camshafts. The upstream machine informs the system control about the camshaft type and the respective adjustment to this type is effected automatically without any retooling.
The parts to be cleaned are washed before they get deburred, which means that all particles are removed. Due to the set cycle time two brushes are in use. During the deburring process the plastic brushes are wetted with the rinsing medium for the following cooling process.
After the brushing the flexible center point goes back into its home position and the camshaft is transported from the portal into the second chamber, where the final cleaning and drying take place. Fine filters extend the life time of the cleaning medium. The entire cleaning machine is placed in a floor trough integrated in the machine frame in order to collect any emergent fluids.
